Dr. Cantu graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon with degrees in medicine and surgery. He remained in Monterrey, Mexico to study general surgery at the Instituto Mexicano de Seguro Social. Dr. Cantú completed his studies in the United States; he first completed a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Texas HSC. He chose to continue training there, earning a specialty in pain management. Dr. Cantú then worked at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, studying pediatric anesthesiology. He has served as the Head of Residencies in both general surgery and anesthesiology and he is a member of the Mexican Board of Anesthesiology.
