Tell us about your education and training?
I am a graduate of Ataturk University Faculty of Medicine in Turkey, and completed my residency of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery in Vakif Gureba Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. I attended essential courses and live surgery workshops on Rhinoplasty, Non-invasive Aesthetic Surgery, Laser assisted surgery and non-invasive procedures, Face Aesthetics and FUE Hair Restoration. As science is running so fast in this field of medicine, I continue following up on new trends and techniques to expand my vision and perform the latest, popular techniques for my patients. I attended numerous national and international congresses, symposiums, courses and seminars and still follow up on new ones as training never ends in science. I have over 50 scientific publications presented in these congresses, and many are published in well-known national and international scientific journals. On the scientific side of my career, I am a proud member of the Reviewer Board of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal of International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. On the artistic side, I train myself in the craft of plastic surgery. This is of great importance to my surgery planning. In my theory, plastic surgery is “when art meets science”. I am attending courses for medical picturing and recently attended The Art Of Reconstruction in Istanbul, by Mike Essen, a worldwide known artist/sculptor, this helped improve my skills on sculpturing, which I have perfected my own way of doing.
Tell us about your practice. What are your key areas of focus?
I’m specialized in laser assisted liposuction, laser non-invasive procedures of the face and body which are the easy to recover and quicker procedures of the new speedy world and I believe the working people all over the world much benefits from these new techniques and this is a change in plastic surgery according to the change of the new dynamics of the world. I also frequently perform rhinoplasty, face rejuvenation and surgery, and body contouring, especially after bariatric surgery, which I have a special interest in as well.
Do you have any numbers you can share with us?
My annual number of operations are approximately 1,000 and 80% of them are aesthetic surgeries, the rest are reconstructive related. When we talk about aesthetic surgeries, the largest part, nearly 70%, are liposuction, abdominoplasty, mammoplasty, thigh lift and a combined one, body contouring after massive weight loss, which covers all of these surgeries. Most of these surgeries I perform together with laser technologies and I find my patients benefit from quick recovery time with less pain and resume their active lives easily.
Do you treat international patients?
Yes, I’m also the Medical Director of a medical tourism company, Harmonia Surgical Tourism, located in Istanbul, Turkey. With the affordable prices in Turkey, cosmetic procedures, aesthetic plastic surgery and related fields have received a lot of attention in US, UK and other European countries as well. We also have patients from Arabic countries. The prices are 50-70% lower compared to all these countries.
Are there any new treatments or therapies that you are using?
Yes, always. I’m now performing FUE hair transplantation together with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) application, which have very good results. I also perform PRP for the face, body and hand rejuvenation. Laser facelift and laser lipolysis are also a main part of our treatments.
Do you have a personal philosophy or approach to patient care?
Yes, absolutely. My philosophy is to combine my artistic approach to my technical knowledge and skills to get the best results for my patients. This starts from the beginning to the end when my patient fully recovers. Plastic surgery is very different from all other fields of surgery. My patients are not always sick, they would just like to remain young and receive the best of the techniques possible for them to get the best results. So, my first priority is to let them know all the risks and complications that can arise before having such treatment plans because this is the most important factor to decide on rejuvenation. To be on the same rope is the starting point and this will bring the best results we can get from any surgical plan.
