Radiation oncologists use SRT for cancers of the brain and spine, because it works best on certain small tumors. Now radiosurgery is being used to treat cancer in other parts of the body and is known as stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).

Stereotactic radiation therapy is also known by various different brand names like Gamma Knife, X-Knife and Cyberknife.
