Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy, radiotherapy, or radiation oncology is the treatment of cancer using radiation.

Radiotherapy is used to kill tumors without destroying healthy tissue, and it is also used to prepare the body to receive a bone marrow transplant. Radiotherapy can be used alone or in combination with chemotherapy and surgery to treat breast cancer, cervical cancer, prostate cancer, and head and neck cancers.

Doctors that use radiation therapy are called radiation oncologists.
