Meniscectomy

A meniscectomy or meniscus removal surgery is a procedure to treat injury to the cartilage that stabilizes and cushions the knee joint.

A meniscectomy is normally done to repair tears in the cartilage that occur from sports injuries, wear and tear, and aging. The surgery is used when repair is not possible and involves removing torn cartilage either completely or partially.

Meniscus removal surgery is typically performed by an orthopedic surgeon.
