Intra ocular lens (IOL) implantation is a surgical procedure to remove cataracts in the eyes.

IOL is a commonly performed procedure for people with poor vision caused by cataracts, which are cloudy formations around the pupil of the eye that normally occur as a result of aging. The IOL procedure involves removing the old lens on the cornea and replacing it with a new lens that is made of silicone or plastic and is 5-6 mm thick. There are alternatives, like Phaco, that do not require removing the old lens.
