Green Light Laser Therapy (PVP)

Green Light Laser Therapy or photo selective vaporization of the prostate (PVP) is a minimally invasive procedure to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – an enlarged prostate.

Older men often experience enlarged prostate (50% of men over 50 years old). BPH is the condition where the number of cells in the prostate increases and as the prostate grows it constricts the urethra causing problems with urination.

Green light laser therapy is a newer form of benign prostatic hyperplasia treatment which involves vaporizing a section of the prostate using a specially designed laser. Alternative procedures to green light laser therapy include transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT).

Green light laser therapy is performed by a urologist. You will find urology doctors who perform green light laser therapy listed below.
