Dental Filling

Dental filling or dental restoration is a common dental procedure to restore the function and integrity of a tooth.

Dental filling is required when a tooth loses some of its structure through tooth decay (caries) or damage. The filling material is either an amalgam of metals or a plastic dental resin. Composite resin fillings offer more advantages over traditional metal amalgam fillings, but they take longer to apply and are thus more expensive.

A composite resin dental filling bonds to the surrounding tooth structure rather than simply fill, so it supports the remaining tooth and also requires less tooth to be drilled away. Composite resin can also be colored to blend with your natural tooth color.
