Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery is a surgical procedure to reconstruct the torn ligaments that support the stability of the knee (anterior cruciate ligament).

ACL repair involves the reattachment of the ligament from bone to bone, while ACL reconstruction involves replacing the ligament with a graft taken from another part of the body. The surgery can be performed using open surgery or using a minimally invasive technique called arthroscopy, which uses instruments that allow the surgeon to see inside the knee and operate without opening it up.

This procedure is performed by an orthopedic surgeon.
